MICHAEL CROWLEY

Hello and welcome to Michael Crowley Guitar! Michael has been a musician for most of his life, having started piano at an early age before being drawn to the guitar and it’s diverse tonal palette. Since then he has explored a wide variety of genres, performing with a number of groups, but fell in love with the intimate tones of the classical guitar.

MUSIC EDUCATION

Michael began his guitar education with Colin McLean as part of the Cork County VEC Scheme. In 2013, Michael graduated from the CIT Cork School of Music in Ireland with a Bachelor of Music (Hons). After his BMus Michael spent two years studying with Dublin based guitarist, John Feeley. Upon leaving Ireland Michael studied privately with Irina Kulikova before continuing his studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag with Peter Constant.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Michael’s passion for music extends beyond the realm of performace and into that of music education. His first foray into teaching was as a substitute teacher for his own teacher in the Cork County VEC Scheme, and before long he began taking his own students to share his love of music and to hone his skills as an educator.

Upon completing his Bachelors of Music, Michael began teaching full time and in addition to his private students, he began teaching in Coláiste an Phiarsigh, and was appointed Head of Guitar at the Lee Valley Academy of Music whose guitar department experienced significant growth during his time there. Michael feels that an important aspect of his students education is performing and encourages all students to take to the stage, often enabling this by organising concerts for them in various venues.

Armed with his skills and experience, Michael is confident that he can help you broaden your knowledge of music theory, composition, history, and song writing and build your guitar skills to help you achieve your personal goals for guitar. Whether you’re a complete beginner, have played for years, or are returning to the instrument after a break, Michael will tailor each lesson to suit your individual needs.
